MLM Ignorance Is Not Bliss, It’s Suicide
The poet Thomas Gray wrote in an Ode on a Distant Prospect of Eton College (1742): “Where ignorance is bliss, ’tis folly to be wise.”
It is obvious that Mr. Gray was not in an MLM company. Not knowing what you, as a network marketer, have to do or what your company requires you to do is sheer folly. Nothing to be desired at all Mr. Gray.
Nothing is more disheartening than to hear the horror stories of people earnestly working hard at building their businesses only to have them and their paychecks yanked out from under them.
And all done ‘legally’ according to the company’s Policy & Procedure or P&P.
I frequently hold training presentations where I speak about the Five Pillars essential to any successful and thriving Network Marketing business. What follows is a typical exchange with a participant:
“Oh well my company’s OK. It fits the 5 pillars pretty well.”
Me: “Great. So you’ve read your P&P.”
“Well, no I haven’t.”
Me: “Excuse me then, but how do you know it has the 5 pillars essential to your success?”
“Well the people are just great.”
Me: “And I’m sure they are. But it’s not the people who own the company or who made the rules. Or who will pay you. Or not.”
Silence.
Me: “I know why you don’t want to look. I’ve been there. It’s because if there is something you don’t like, you’ll have to admit it, you know ‘let in’ the idea, that you have been taken, that you have made a mistake. That you’re not as smart and pretty or handsome and business savvy as you think you are. So you’d rather look away. IGNORE what might be holding you back, IGNORE what’s keeping you from all that freedom, from all that money and time freedom you’re dreaming of and they promised you.
“Essentially you’d rather NOT know than know, isn’t that it? You’d rather ignore the 800 lb. gorilla even as it is sitting on your chest and picking your pocket as it’s eating your lunch.”
Belief is a double-edged sword, cutting both ways. Belief, as has been shown by science, is a necessary component of human survival. However, when the object of belief is injurious to life, health and wealth, belief can be suicidal.
What makes looking at their company’s P&P so painful for most people is the threat to their self image, to the idea that have leapt into a chasm without the slightest thought of looking first.
I know because I did exactly that not once, BUT THREE TIMES. And my friends tell me I’m bright, and intelligent!
I don’t say that for any other reason than to let you know
INTELLIGENCE HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH IT.
The major stumbling block, the #1 obstacle to people gaining the success they dream of is IGNORANCE.
Ignorance of what the company expects of you; Ignorance of the ownership’s background and business history; Ignorance of what you must do to gain a check and how large your organization has to be for you to be able to retire at age 65 or 25 – if the company will ever let you do it at all; Ignorance of how to generate your own leads; Ignorance of how to train a downline; Ignorance of just what to do next.
And the only way to dispel Ignorance is to LOOK and then LEARN, acquire the skills necessary for this particular profession you have chosen.
You can begin with this free report to dispel the Ignorance that is holding you down, back and away from living your dream and owning your life.
PS: See why most network marketers don’t think the ‘bad stuff’ will ever apply to them. (It has to do with staying small and out of sight.)

MLM Success: Your 1st Step – DO NOT ISOLATE YOURSELF
A successful Network Marketing business cannot be done alone: The very first step you must take toward MLM success is to get connected – DO NOT ISOLATE YOURSELF.
This may seem apparent, after all it IS Network Marketing. However, you might be surprised at how enticing it is to so many to work alone and think “I can figure this out for and by myself” – provided there is enough information available.
Sorry but this a very wrong assumption for a Network Marketer, an ssumption that leads to the careless spending of great amounts of time and finally, in the worst case, to the death of dreams.
This is also one of the greatest differences between INTERNET marketing and NETWORK marketing.
When NETWORK marketers behave like INTERNET marketers they have greatly misinformed themselves. This behavior of working alone is in direct contradiction to what NETWORKING is.
Call me guilty of “profiling” if you must but Internet marketers are in love with their computers and all the software that they have installed. They believe that all that information is going to deliver them to the Promised Land, turning their PCs into ATMs.
THEN, and only then, will they emerge from their solitary cocoons and spread their wings!
Maybe. But this model does not and cannot work for NETWORK marketers.
NETWORK MARKETERS HAVE TO NETWORK!
By definition Networkers have to meet, talk to, mingle with, and share ideas with other people. At the initial stages of a Network Marketer’s life this ideally should be done with a team and a mentor. The best setting for accomplishing this is with a Mastermind group.
If you find yourself in an MLM company without such a Mastermind group, you are at a grave disadvantage. It is something you must correct if you do not want to see your dream shrivel up and blow away in the wind.
You can learn more about Mastermind groups and how to find one in this free report.
Don’t be shy. Take Action. NOW.
What are you waiting for? You need support. You need to bond with income partners who will turn into lifelong friends. You need a Mastermind group.
Here is how you can get all that for free.

Appreciating Self-Worth Is The Beginning Of Progress or Using Mental, Spiritual, Intellectual and Creative Power to Do All We Could Ever Dream Of Doing
I am a big fan of personal development and deeply appreciate using mental, spiritual, intellectual and creative power to do all we could ever dream of doing in our desire for a successful Network Marketing career. Coming from a lifetime as an employee and experienced in the conventional business model, I needed a drastic “attitude adjustment” and I got it from all the wonderful material out there.
Here is a quote from one of the masters, the late Jim Rohn, who in his book The Five Major Pieces to the Life Puzzle had this to say:
What would happen if we all put our minds to work and read the books, took the classes and discovered new ways to refine our philosophy? What would happen if we all developed a new attitude about the past, the present and the future? What would happen if we all changed our feelings about one another and the importance of each individual to our collective destiny? If we did all that, just imagine what an incredible effect this would have on our future?
The exciting thing is that each of us already has enough mental, spiritual, intellectual and creative power to do all that we could ever dream of doing.
Everyone has it!
{Let me repeat that: The exciting thing is that each of us already has enough mental, spiritual, intellectual and creative power to do all that we could ever dream of doing.}
We just need to become more aware of all that we already have and spend more time refining all that we already are, and then put it to work for us.
What stops us from recognizing our inherent gifts and talents is a poor attitude about ourselves. Why are we so quick to see the value in others and yet so reluctant to see it in ourselves? Why are we always ready to applaud someone else’s accomplishment and yet so shy about recognizing our own?
The bracketed and boldfaced text above is my doing.
Now what about your doing? If you have been working on yourself but still are stuck you may benefit greatly from this free report.
Getting Your MLM Goals Off The Ground
My mentor Tom ‘Big Al’ Schreiter likes to use this illustration.
“I’m all set to fly my plane. I’ve got my vision board up on the wall in my office. My visualizations are never far away and my self-talk never stops.
“So I get into my plane, turn on the engine, taxi down the runway and crash into a tree at the end of the strip.
“I go back to my office, double the number of pictures on my board, ramp up my visuals and self-talk, get into another plane, rev it up, taxi down the tarmac – and crash into another tree.
“Now I’m really determined. I have TWO visions boards covered with overlapping pictures; I have visualizations dancing before my eyes DAY AND NIGHT and my self-talk is on a NON-ENDING CONTINUOUS LOOP.
“But when I get to the end of the runway, I hit another tree.
“How about if I just took some lessons and got the skills needed to fly the plane?”
Are you crashing your MLM business month after month not getting your goals off the ground?
Why not get the skills you need to get the life you want?

Successful Networking What It Takes To Win: outwitting the devil using a p&p as protection

Who To Keep Company With To Outwit The Devil
When I was a boy of 11 – 12 years, besides baseball and the building of model airplanes and ships, my attention was increasingly being captured by girls. My sister, being 3 years older than I, was equally interested in her opposite sex and my mother would accuse her of being ‘boy crazy’ although it wasn’t true. My sister was a consistently good student who wanted a social life as well.
My mother used to use a phrase which initially struck me as odd. She would say something along these lines: “I met Jo in the grocery store today and she said her daughter Maria is keeping company with John so-and-so.”
“Keeping company with” was to my ears a curious phrase and one I do not think people use anymore.
The word ‘company’ to my 12 year old ears meant one of two things. There was a company of soldiers headed by a captain and there was a company in business that made and sold things.
Oh yes, one more usage. My mother would say, “We’re having company this Saturday night so you kids will eat early before our guests arrive.”
Now, today, it doesn’t take much to see that ‘company’ in the last three examples means a group of people with a common purpose in mind, from fighting an enemy to doing business to having a good time.
But ‘keeping company with’ still is strange to my ear unless I consider this – unless I consider who I associate with today, in business, in competition and in fellowship
When I joined my previous network marketing companies, I was in business but I was totally alone. I experienced no common association, no sense of collegiality, no sense of common purpose. It is quite fair to say that I was IN a company but was not keeping company WITH anyone.
I just finished reading Napoleon Hill’s OUTWITTING THE DEVIL. Written in 1938 he made it explicitly clear that the book was not to be published while he was alive due to the controversial nature of the material. His heirs obviously felt the same way because though Hill died in 1970, the book has only just been published, finally, this year – 2011.
There is just so much good material in this book that I am tempted to start sharing just about all of it, so I’ll stick with my title here and use one of Hill’s most crucial teachings.
We humans are influenced by our environment to such an extent that we are reluctant to admit it because to do so would be to admit how powerless we so often make ourselves. By surrendering power we consequently make others have dominion over us.
However, we are not totally powerless. We are able to save ourselves and exercise a real degree of self-determination when it comes to our environment.
How? What can we do? We can choose who to associate with, or in other words, who we ‘keep company with’ because by environment Hill means EVERYTHING and EVERYONE around us.
If you are in a network marketing company and you are not living your dream or fulfilling the promises made to you, please ask yourself, “Who am I keeping company with? Who am I in business with from CEO and upline to downline?”
Finally if you would like some free mentoring in this regard please email me at tony@ajlauria.
I would be honored.

Spirit and Money What It Takes To Win Why 98% Fail: mlm policy and procedure mlm protection reading your policy and procedure

The ‘All-Seeing’ MLM Policy & Procedure
As an MLM mentor I assist struggling Network Marketers. Among the help I am able to provide is the deciphering of their Policy & Procedure documents.
A P&P, as it is known, is the actual contract a networker has with the company he or she has chosen. Regrettably there are a number of clauses to be watchful for, all designed for one purpose: to “legally” steal the rep’s paycheck.
This morning as I was sitting before my computer reading the P&P document for someone’s network marketing company, I got the distinct vision of the Eye of Sauron atop the tower of Barad-Dur in Mordor from the Lord of the Rings.
Crazy I know but pretty damn accurate.
Most P&Ps are benign to most reps for one reason only: 98% of all reps fail, meaning if they generate any income at all for themselves it would not be enough to draw the attention of the company’s CEO and top-earners.
Much like the Hobbits who did not typically draw the attention of Sauron’s eye, most reps are too small! Assumed to be of no significance, sponsoring on average only 2.7 new distributors for the company, they are essentially left to be what they are: consumers of the products/services. It is further assumed that they will not ever seriously challenge the vast wealth accumulated by the ownership.
And as long as they stay small, most of the P&P clauses will have little to no effect on them and they won’t have any real serious problems. As a former VP once said, “Let them protest all they want as long as they pay their taxes.” Similar attitude.
However, the closer you get to the big money, that is the bigger your check becomes, the more attention you will attract.
Just as the One Ring grew heavier the closer it travelled to Mordor and consequently drew more of Sauron’s attention, so will you draw attention the more they will have to pay you.
Then your Sauron-like CEO will look to invoke clauses in your P&P (contract) that will facilitate the appropriation of your check.
What to do? Here are some choices:
- Keep a low profile, be sure your check doesn’t grow and so escape notice. But is that why you joined your company?
- Learn what is in your P&P. Knowing where the traps are, you might be able to avoid notice and stay at a safe distance. But is such a limitation what you want?
- Pardon the corn but you could ask for help from a Fellowship of Networkers. We at MentoringForFree would be honored to assist you and show you how to protect yourself and your paycheck from the spying gaze and long greedy grasp of your CEO’s evil insatiable greed.

BULLSCRIPT
At a recent event where network marketers had gathered I met a young man who eagerly approached me for my business card once he learned that I am an MLM mentor.
Let’s call him Vinnie (not his real name).
Vinnie is very charismatic and athletically built. He is currently in his 4th company, convinced “that this is the one”. As most MLMers are, Vinnie longs to get out of the rat race, be his own man, have all his needs and wants met.
Beautiful. I relate to Vinnie on several levels so he got my card, downloaded the eBook – SUCCESS IN 10 STEPS – I use as an introduction into our mentoring and training system, MentoringForFree.
Specifically Vinnie was looking for “how to be comfortable talking with people.” This confused me because as I said above Vinnie is very charismatic.
So after some Q&A on the phone I arrived at the root of our dilemma: Vinnie wanted the words, wanted “what to say”.
Is there anyone alive who hasn’t picked up the phone only to hear someone reading a sales script? How did you know it was being read? Simple. The words being spoken had nothing to do with who you are, how you are, where you are, what you want or what you need.
The words and the speaker weren’t related to you at all and you knew it on a deep, gut level of awareness. And it offended you too, didn’t it?
So why was Vinnie looking for “what to say”? As far as I can figure, two reasons.
- Vinnie believed deeply in his company and wants it to grow fast, which is alright as far as it goes. But . . .
- Vinnie was depending too much on his charisma.
Here’s what I told Vinnie: “To simply give you “what to say” is the same as giving you a script, and scripts are bullshit. Anyone listening with even half a brain will detect that you are only conscious of “what to say” and you won’t be taken seriously. And you want to be taken seriously. Don’t you?”
My advice to him was to learn his profession inside and out and learn what to say in response to what his potential business partner says.
In other words, LEARN TO LISTEN, LEARN TO ASK QUESTIONS THAT ARE RESPONSIVE TO WHAT IS BEING DISCUSSED. If you know your business and company well you will know what to say.
And many wonder why 98% fail.

Almost A $100 Cup Of Coffee
As I was walking to Dunkin’ Donuts this morning for an iced tea and an hour’s worth of reading, the street sweeper was making its way along the curb, doing its thing. Ahead of it was a Sanitation patrol car driven by an inspector whose job is to clear the sweeper’s path and write summonses for illegally parked cars blocking that path.
In front of the DD shop was a semi being unloaded by a small crew. The tractor trailer had been double parked leaving enough room for the patrol car and the sweep to perform their duties. But about 50 feet before the semi and its crew were two parked cars that were blocking the path.
The inspector pulled up behind the first, flashed his lights and the driver rode off. He then pulled up behind the second as I was approaching alongside it. Walking beside the car now I could see there was no driver but it was occupied by an elderly woman. It was obvious the driver was on an errand while she was waiting patiently.
The inspector was not so patient, eager to write out a parking ticket. Then all happening at once, the woman got out of the car, I entered the DD shop and right behind me one of the crew with a hand truck also came in announcing in a surprisingly low voice,
“Who owns the Toyota outside?”
The half dozen people ahead of me waiting to place breakfast orders looked up, all with caffeine craving blankness. One of them, an elderly man, asked, “The blue Corolla?”
The DD crew member replied, “The street sweeper is trying to get by” to which the man dumbly stared, not eager to give up his place in line.
I finally piped up and said with some force, “Sanitation is going to give you a ticket if you don’t move your car.”
The old gent bolted out of the store. Apparently he got my message and quickly calculated that his position in line wasn’t worth the $100 summons he was about to get.
Lesson? Sometimes getting to the point is of the essence and even 30 seconds can be too long.
Question: Can you get your point across in 30 seconds or less when you really have to?
If not, how is that hurting your business?

If Your Heart Is Empty It Doesn’t Matter What’s In Your Head
MLM, as a business model, was originally conceived and configured that way: focused more on the heart’s content than the head’s.
So what happened?
It worked too well. There was so much money being made that it attracted all sorts of “professionals” – including professional crooks!
Willy Sutton, the famous safecracker was asked why he robbed banks, to which he replied, “Well, that’s where they keep the money.”
That’s why there are so many scams in Network Marketing – It Works So Well. And why you have to be knowledgeable to protect yourself.
