  • MLM Tip: Just What is Network Marketing?

    Tom ‘Big Al’ Schreiter fills us in:

    When people first hear the words “network marketing” or “MLM” – the first question in their minds is, “What do you mean?”

    Network marketing is simply:

    “Recommending and promoting what you like.”

    That’s it.

    Everyone already does network marketing.

    We all recommend and promote things to our friends and acquaintances. This is part of the human experience. We naturally want to share our favorite resources, products, music and ideas.

    Here is a quick example.

    You see an ad in the paper for a new restaurant opening. You go, have a great meal, and then you tell your friends how wonderful the food was.

    That was network marketing.

    Now, the restaurant owner appreciated all of your word-of-mouth advertising. He would like to reward you, but he has already spent his entire marketing budget on advertising. So, when you return to his restaurant, he gives you a bottle of wine with your next meal as a “thank you” for bringing more customers to his restaurant.

    Yes, we recommend movies, books, baby sitters, dentists, cars and more. We all do network marketing every day, however … some people actually get paid for it.

    Want to get paid for what you are already doing?

    Consider this. Many companies believe that the word-of-mouth recommendation and promotion of their products and services is more effective than money spent on advertising. Here is what they do.

    They stop their traditional advertising and marketing.

    These companies then use these unspent advertising and marketing monies to reward people who recommend and promote their products and services.

    So if you like the products and services of one of these companies, don’t change what you are doing. Simply continue recommending and promoting, and let these companies send you cash every month.

    There are two types of people in the world:

    • Those that recommend and promote the things they like, and
    • Those that get paid for it.

  • MLM Tip from Big Al: How to make your investment friends jealous

    This MLM tip from Big Al is about where to put that $100 for the best return.

    Let’s say that you have $100 to invest. Where would you invest it?

    You could be safe and put that $100 in a bank savings account. At .05% interest, you would get a nice, safe, guaranteed return of $0.05 at the end of the year.

    So why not try investing in the stock market?

    Maybe you could invest in some company that you are very familiar with. You’d like to have an inside view or advantage, so you’ll stick with a company you intimately know.

    Now you buy one share of that company’s stock for $100. Because you have inside information, your share of stock appreciates to $200 at the end of the year.

    Wow! That’s a 100% return on your investment. Pretty smart, don’t you think?

    Not really. Not the way the market is behaving.

    What if you did this?

    You invest the $100 in a classified ad in the local newspaper. By adding a little personal work to your money investment, you successfully recruit one new serious distributor.

    And with a little more personal effort, you train your new distributor to be productive.

    Your return? An extra $50 a month in bonus income. That’s $600 extra per year! That’s a 600% return on your investment.

    Pretty smart.

    But it gets better.

    What if you invested the $100 in training?

    Maybe you invested the $100 to go to your company’s regional training seminar. At the seminar, you learned how to prospect and recruit new distributors without running an ad.

    In other words, you won’t have to spend $100 to run an ad every time you want to locate and sponsor a new distributor. Instead, you’ve learned expert methods of locating hot prospects without having to spend any money.

    Now you can sponsor one new distributor every month who earns you an extra $50 in monthly income. At the end of the year, you’d have an extra monthly income of $600. That’s $7,200 extra a year — a 7,200% return on your investment.

    And that’s the kind of investment return that separates part-time distributors from financially independent leaders.

    I like to call it the ‘Bought a Lottery Ticket’ syndrome:

    People fed up with the boss, fed up with not having enough money at the end of the month, fed up with not living the life of their dreams, get into a home based business, a Multi-Level marketing company.

    Without doing much if any research they jump into a deal that appeals looking for a stash of cash.

    “I got a business now, got my websites up and and I’m ready to earn. And . . .”

    then they do nothing. They’ve bought the business much like buying a lottery ticket and take the same action, which is NO action. After all , there IS no action to take when you buy a lottery ticket. Just sit back and wait for the money to come in.

    And wait.

    And wait.

    But they have bought a BUSINESS, so why aren’t they getting BUSY?

    The answer or answers to this are many but they all explain this:

    Why 98% Fail.

    The most direct action you can take if you are in such a situation and realize you MUST do something about it is to get the skills that WORK so that your business will WORK.

    Yes, WORK. You have bought a business and nothing works like work!

    Tom ‘Big Al’ Schreiter says:

    I go to as many trainings as I can. Why?

    I hear great stuff, pick up new ideas, and rethink old strategies. I feel sorry for people who think they know it all in this business. If they know that much already, think of how much more they could earn with even more knowledge.

    Anyway, in August 1995, I heard Dayle Maloney give a talk and he described how his early days were a bit of a disaster. His first check was less than $6. That’s not very good in anybody’s opinion.

    Now, if someone asked you the question, “How much money did you earn your first month?” and you had to answer, “Only $6.” — that could be hazardous to your recruiting!

    Well, Dayle has an answer for almost everything.

    When somebody asks Dayle, “How much money did you earn your first month?” – this is what he says:

    “I don’t know. I haven’t finished collecting it all yet. You see, you get paid residual income in this business. I’m still earning money from my efforts from my very first month!”

    Awesome answer. Not only do you overcome a prospect’s objection, you also slip in a neat selling point about the residual income feature of network marketing.

    Has that quote paid off?

    Yes! And I don’t know how much it has paid off since I’m still getting paid for the first time I used it.

    “I’m all set to fly my plane. I’ve got my vision board up on the wall in my office. My visualizations are never far away and my self-talk never stops.

    “So I get into my plane, turn on the engine, taxi down the runway and crash into a tree at the end of the strip.

    “I go back to my office, double the number of pictures on my board, ramp up my visuals and self-talk, get into another plane, rev it up, taxi down the tarmac – and crash into another tree.

    “Now I’m really determined. I have TWO visions boards covered with overlapping pictures; I have visualizations dancing before my eyes DAY AND NIGHT and my self-talk is on a NON-ENDING CONTINUOUS LOOP.

    “But when I get to the end of the runway, I hit another tree.

    “How about if I just took some lessons and got the skills needed to fly the plane?”

  • Turning Your Business Into A Bad Investment – Some ‘Big Al’ Wisdom

    Imagine spending $50,000 on a new car. That’s quite an investment.

    Now, imagine that you never bothered to learn how to drive your new car. Your $50,000 now becomes a $50,000 bad investment.

    For only a few dollars more, and a little bit of time invested, you could have taken driving lessons and had a great investment.

    Sounds silly?

    Imagine this.

    A new distributor spends $50 for a distributor kit, $100 for product and inventory, $50 for business cards and stationery, $400 for a suit, $100 to detail the car, $100 for a new website …

    and never spends a dime on learning exactly what to say to prospects.

    This distributor will consistently lose money by purchasing leads, buying advertising, and driving across town to meet prospects – only to say the wrong things.

    His solution? Buy more leads, a bigger computer, a nicer car, a better haircut, fancy cologne, etc. He will look smart, smell good, but sound … not so smart.

    Remember, we can work hard – or we can work smart.
