  • What If SUCCESS Looked Like MAGIC . . .

     What if it looked different than you imagined it.

    What if you’ve never known success to any degree and . . .

    If you didn’t know what it looks like or. . .

    How to get your hands on it or . . .

    What to say. . .

    And what to do?

    What if success as you’ve always imagined it were as foreign to you as a moon rock.

    What if you thought Success was like Magic. Would you be looking for where the mirrors and trapdoors were located?

    What if when you saw someone succeed or heard someone talk about what it takes, it would seem to you the same as hearing how to pull a rabbit out of a hat? Or make a coin disappear and then reappear?

    What if the majority of people in Multi-Level Marketing believe secretly that MLM stands for Mostly Like Magic?

    Would that explain some of the things that linger in your mind about why you’re having trouble getting going? Or keeping your downline populated?

    Chapter 7 of my book is Does MLM = Many Love Magic?

    It’s available only on Amazon Kindle.  Here’s the link.

    Plus if you need to turn your device into an eReader you can do that with a download from Kindle that’s phree!

    Lack of MLM Skills Is Only Part of the Problem

    Those who have been mentored by Tom ‘Big Al’ Schreiter know that people fail in MLM because they lack the necessary skills. But I believe that’s only the beginning.

    What if a network marketer buys and studies all the CDs and books and attends all the seminars and workshops –in other words, has all the skills – but still struggles and fails because THE SKILLS ARE NOT PUT TO USE.

    Doesn’t that beg the question that there must be more going on than lack of skills?

    Don’t we have to ask WHY that network marketer is not using the skills?

    And what’s gotten into his mind that’s distracted him or confused and deterred her?

    The percentage of network marketers who ARE making their goals won’t give this much thought unless they first have downline members who fit this description of struggle and second, care about those struggling.

    The percentage of network marketers who are making their goals ARE most likely using the required skills and so are making Big Al’s point.

    Unfortunately the vast majority in MLM is not and so is struggling and thus contributing to the common perception that MLM doesn’t work – to say the most harmless thing about it.

    That’s why I wrote my book. I took six stories of six different people that I had a series of phone conversations with over the course of several weeks. They each swore they wanted to succeed but allowed outside people, forces and ideas to derail them. In the book I told their stories and then suggested what those ideas and forces might be and why so many, some say as high as 98%, fail.

    I wrote this book to shed some light on a problem that is largely self-imposed and so is largely self-correctable, provided the will is there.

    The Essence Of Creativity – “What box?”

    On Friday I had the occasion to visit my local community board where I was asked to sign in on one of those lined sheets with columns and lines for Name, Address, Phone, email Address, Reason for Visiting.

    So I did so but, whether I write large or the lines and spaces are too small, I used more than what the designer of this form allotted.

    When I handed it back to the woman she wrinkled her nose and mumbled something about “taking up more than one line.”

    My reply: “You really were taught well, weren’t you?” and when she looked at me a little bit defensively I countered, “I mean, I’m sure you were told not to color outside the lines, weren’t you? But the essence of creativity is to use whatever you need – space, lines, time – to get done what you set out to get done.”

    Perhaps too big an answer to a rather insignificant issue but her reply was a peek into a way of thinking that has crept into our lives and is crippling us.

    We have become SO sensitive, SO worried about offending, SO paralyzed by whatever is considered “correct” this season that nothing is getting done. We’re not working, not earning, not building, not creating.

    Worse. We’re sliding backward into an abyss.

    You have, I’m sure, heard the plea to think outside the box.

    The best reply I’ve heard to this is,

    “What box?”

    Think You Don’t Create Your Own Reality?

    Here’s a video from FTF Films on Victim Mentality.
    So if you could reverse that and create a Victor Mentality instead, would you?

    It would require taking responsibility for your circumstances right now and resisting the temptation to blame parents, the economy, the government, a spouse, a lover, etc.

    You would be creating your Life. Are you up to it?

    MLM: Just Another Part of the Ride

    About 7 years ago when I first heard Personal Development and the idea that our thoughts create reality connected with Network Marketing, I was incredulous. I found it hard to believe that what I thought and believed had anything to do with my business success.

    Let’s face it, how many car salespeople or brokers concern themselves with such things? I was starting a networking business and needed to do the things necessary to build it. What was all this New Age stuff to do with that?

    Well, maybe those salespeople and brokers should pay attention, because now I know that seven years ago my education in my innate powers was just beginning.

    The very last part of the video presentation below ends with these words:

    “The world is like a ride at an amusement park. And when you choose to go on it you think it’s real because that’s how powerful our minds are. And the ride goes up and down and round and round and it has thrills and chills and it’s very brightly colored and it’s very loud. And it’s fun for a while. Some people have been on the ride for a long time and they begin to question, “Is this real or is this just a ride?’ and other people have remembered and they come back to us and they say, ‘Hey, Don’t worry, don’t be afraid ever because . . . this is just a ride.'”

    MLM or network marketing is just an attraction, another ride at the amusement park.

    Don’t be afraid to let out a good scream!

    The Trap of Social Media Noise

    ‘I quote others to better express myself.’

    So the saying goes. And since I couldn’t say any better what Seth Godin has to say about the noise of social media, I’ll borrow his words. Enjoy it.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    The Trap Of Social Media Noise
    If we put a number on it, people will try to make the number go up.
    Now that everyone is a marketer, many people are looking for a louder megaphone, a chance to talk about their work, their career, their product… and social media looks like the ideal soapbox, a free opportunity to shout to the masses.
    But first, we’re told to make that number go up. Increase the number of fans, friends and followers, so your shouts will be heard. The problem of course is that more noise is not better noise.
    In Corey’s words, the conventional, broken wisdom is:
    Follow a ton of people to get people to follow back
    Focus on the # of followers, not the interests of followers or your relationship with them.
    Pump links through the social platform (take your pick, or do them all!)
    Offer nothing of value, and no context. This is a megaphone, not a telephone.
    Think you’re winning, because you’re playing video games (highest follower count wins!)
    This looks like winning (the numbers are going up!), but it’s actually a double-edged form of losing. First, you’re polluting a powerful space, turning signals into noise and bringing down the level of discourse for everyone. And second, you’re wasting your time when you could be building a tribe instead, could be earning permission, could be creating a channel where your voice is actually welcomed.
    Leadership (even idea leadership) scares many people, because it requires you to own your words, to do work that matters. The alternative is to be a junk dealer.
    The game theory pushes us into one of two directions: either be better at pump and dump than anyone else, get your numbers into the millions, outmass those that choose to use mass and always dance at the edge of spam (in which the number of those you offend or turn off forever keep increasing), or
    Relentlessly focus. Prune your message and your list and build a reputation that’s worth owning and an audience that cares.
    Only one of these strategies builds an asset of value.
  • MLM Tip: ‘Playing’ at Network Marketing
    Kids playing Tag. A puppy and a lawn sprinkler. Children engaged in Hide & Seek.
    What do they have in common?
    “You can’t get me!”
    But they’re sure going to get as close as they possibly can . . . but not too close that they can’t escape from being tagged, getting wet or being found.
    So what’s this got to do with Network Marketing?
    Prospecting.
    You see, they want to be found but they’re hiding just as every kid wants to show how clever they are at staying out of sight and . . .
    They want to get wet but not soaked.
    They want to get close, real close, to what they’re looking for, but not get tagged with a bad deal. Not get scammed, cheated, lied to or swindled.
    And that has all happened to most of them. Yet they want to get close again.
    The dream is too strong, the reward too enticing. In fact, one of the master networkers Randy Gage goes so far as to say that once MLM gets in their blood the only thing that will replace it is formaldehyde!
    So they want to play at this the way an athlete looks forward to the next contest. But unlike professional athletes, most networkers who long to be professional winners are without the skills necessary to win.
    That’s all that’s missing. The will to play and the will to win are already in place.
    They just don’t know what to do and say and when to do them.
    That should be simple and easy to fix, shouldn’t it?
    And why can’t it just be given away?
    Play instead of Work?
    See what I mean: http://liveyourdream-ownyourlife.com/sorry-but-i-dont-believe-in-work
