Seriously. Who?

The ‘Real You’ is revealed in this 3:58 video by the late, great and loving Alan Watts.

Lack of MLM Skills Is Only Part of the Problem

Those who have been mentored by Tom ‘Big Al’ Schreiter know that people fail in MLM because they lack the necessary skills. But I believe that’s only the beginning.

What if a network marketer buys and studies all the CDs and books and attends all the seminars and workshops –in other words, has all the skills – but still struggles and fails because THE SKILLS ARE NOT PUT TO USE.

Doesn’t that beg the question that there must be more going on than lack of skills?

Don’t we have to ask WHY that network marketer is not using the skills?

And what’s gotten into his mind that’s distracted him or confused and deterred her?

The percentage of network marketers who ARE making their goals won’t give this much thought unless they first have downline members who fit this description of struggle and second, care about those struggling.

The percentage of network marketers who are making their goals ARE most likely using the required skills and so are making Big Al’s point.

Unfortunately the vast majority in MLM is not and so is struggling and thus contributing to the common perception that MLM doesn’t work – to say the most harmless thing about it.

That’s why I wrote my book. I took six stories of six different people that I had a series of phone conversations with over the course of several weeks. They each swore they wanted to succeed but allowed outside people, forces and ideas to derail them. In the book I told their stories and then suggested what those ideas and forces might be and why so many, some say as high as 98%, fail.

I wrote this book to shed some light on a problem that is largely self-imposed and so is largely self-correctable, provided the will is there.

MLM: Just Another Part of the Ride

About 7 years ago when I first heard Personal Development and the idea that our thoughts create reality connected with Network Marketing, I was incredulous. I found it hard to believe that what I thought and believed had anything to do with my business success.

Let’s face it, how many car salespeople or brokers concern themselves with such things? I was starting a networking business and needed to do the things necessary to build it. What was all this New Age stuff to do with that?

Well, maybe those salespeople and brokers should pay attention, because now I know that seven years ago my education in my innate powers was just beginning.

The very last part of the video presentation below ends with these words:

“The world is like a ride at an amusement park. And when you choose to go on it you think it’s real because that’s how powerful our minds are. And the ride goes up and down and round and round and it has thrills and chills and it’s very brightly colored and it’s very loud. And it’s fun for a while. Some people have been on the ride for a long time and they begin to question, “Is this real or is this just a ride?’ and other people have remembered and they come back to us and they say, ‘Hey, Don’t worry, don’t be afraid ever because . . . this is just a ride.'”

MLM or network marketing is just an attraction, another ride at the amusement park.

Don’t be afraid to let out a good scream!

Intention and Attention IS the Secret

There is NO secret to The Secret. It is constantly working for you NOW and has been since you were born. There is NOTHING mysterious about it. The movie just served to bring it to a greater number of peoples’ Attention.

It works like this: First is your Intention. Whatever is in your Mind CONSTANTLY will be created or manifested. So if you hold in your Mind the debt on your credit card, you will have debt on your credit card just as you will have more health if that is what you hold in your Mind. It is incredibly simple!

Consequently the first step is coming to real-ize what it is You INTEND to create.

Second is your Attention. Whatever is being held in your Mind is what you are Attending to. In essence you are welcoming it, making a place for it to ‘Enter and make Itself comfortable’.  It is that simple.

So you have a choice: Let Others’ thoughts come and go at THEIR behest or You welcoming thoughts and their resulting manifestation by holding in your Mind Your thoughts at YOUR behest.

The Key to the Secrets is You entertaining the thoughts that match your conscious Desire and then letting your Subconscious get to work.

Control your thoughts or someone else will.

Attention & Your Attitude

I have posted before from the brilliant Randy Gage.

Here is his contribution today. http://www.networkmarketingtimes.com/blog/your-attitude/#more-1152

“Here’s the funny thing.  The one thing we have the most control over is our attitude.  Yet most people behave like they have no control over this whatsoever.

But your attitude determines how you respond when someone turns you down, doesn’t show up for a presentation, or a team member drops out.  You can choose to make those learning experiences or distractions.

Your attitude determines whether you accept personal responsibility for what happens in your business, or you blame others.  Your attitude determines whether you do daily self-development or not, exercise or not, try or give up.   In fact, your attitude actually determines whether you decide to succeed or fail.”

May I add, so does forgiveness. In fact, forgiveness IS attitude, all about attitude, your attitude.

So if your relationships are not what you’d like, and I am including business relationships in that bunch, if conversations with loved ones and prospects aren’t as smooth as you’d like, may I suggest paying more Attention and perhaps you’ll see that Forgiveness is exactly what’s needed in the moment.

If you are looking for an aid to work on your ability to forgive, may I further suggest this audio CD – THE CHOICE OF FORGIVENESS.

Here’s a link to Amazon and no, I am not an affiliate.

Believing IS Seeing

Let’s use the ever useful “Half-Empty or Half-Full glass” question. And what most of us have been taught to do: See first, then believe our eyes.

Seeing first, and describing LITERALLY what we actually do observe, we see that the glass is BOTH half-empty AND half-full AT THE SAME TIME. Isn’t that so?

But by CHOOSING to BELIEVE first that the glass is EITHER HALF-EMPTY OR HALF-FULL makes whichever condition we attend to SO. Not that the other condition isn’t so AS WELL, but that it isn’t BELIEVED, so it isn’t SEEN to be so.

Now try this in your life. The next time you’re facing an argument with a loved one, or a colleague, choose what to attend to. Choose what to believe first, and see what you see. Then articulate that or it won’t become REAL.

Remember LANGUAGE creates REALITY.

  • Attention is NOT Concentration

Attention is not the same as Concentration. The latter is exclusion; the former, total awareness, excludes Nothing.

If you think about it, it is pretty obvious that most of us are not aware, not only of what we’re talking about but of the colors and shapes around us, our immediate environment, the people we call clients or prospects for our business.

Most likely it is because we are so wrapped up in ourselves, with our own little problems, ideas, ambitions, pleasures and pusuits that we cannot be aware.

And how we talk about building relations with our clients!

Are you aware of how this makes you feel?

    The Beginning of Wisdom

“The question of whether or not there is a God or truth or reality, or whatever you like to call it, can never be answered by books, by priests or ministers or rabbis, by philosophers or saviors. Nobody and nothing can answer the question but YOU yourself and that is why you must know yourself.

Immaturity lies only in total ignorance of self. To understand yourself is the Beginning of Wisdom.”

    And Success.

    The Power of Intention

I’ve written before about the Power of Intention when coupled with the Power of Attention. Together they are what constitutes the Law of Attraction.

Did you ever feel like you had to go to some family affair but your heart was just not in it? You were convinced from the start that it would be a huge drag and waste of your time. But you went. And guess what? It was!

Have you ever looked forward to one of these get-togethers anticipating seeing cousins or a favorite aunt or uncle that you hadn’t seen in a long time and so expected to  have a great time? And you did!

“Whether you think you can or can’t, you’re right.” So said Henry Ford. And he was talking about the Power of Intention.

Sticking with our example of looking forward to seeing your long missed relative and expecting you will enjoy the visit, where do you think your Attention will be once you arrive?  Probably seeking them out, don’t you think?

Put it in your mind you’ll have a great or terrible time, and you’re programming yourself to do just that. This is what the Power of Intention is all about.

With the Intention of enjoying seeing them and the attentive action of going to the affair, you’ve guaranteed your good time.

Do you think this might work on a larger scale, daily, in your life and work and other relationships? You might not have real-ized this yet, but the outcome you expect and intend to have is very often the one you get.

How do you feel about that?

Have a wonderful and joyous Thanksgiving holiday, intent on appreciating all your blessings. And you will!

The Aphorism Salon – Boring Your Prospects?

“NEVER FAIL TO KNOW THAT IF YOU ARE DOING ALL THE TALKING YOU’RE BORING SOMEBODY”

WoW! Do I love this gem from John’s window.

When I first got into Network Marketing I did not meet with any success worth considering. And I couldn’t figure out why. After all, I came with some sales experience. I knew how to talk a good game. Slowly I came to real-ize I had a load of bad habits – worse, unproductive and undermining habits that just didn’t work in MLM. One of them was talking.

    doing-all-the-talking1

    Another was not listening. Enough.

We have all heard that Network Marketing is a Relationship business but how many of us have also heard that it is NOT a sales business? There is nothing to sell and everything to lose if it is approached that way, namely, as a conventional business.

You see, most of us got into this gig because we didn’t like the way conventional businesses are run or what they make us do or feel. It’s a whole new order of things here but if we bring some conventional ideas and habits along with us into Networking, well, what have we made of it?

Our conscious mind may be telling us we’re our own bosses now, finally, but are we allowing our unconscious habit-mind to undo us?

Pay ATTENTION to your actions. Cut that talking time in half and double the listening time.

This Prospecting thing is a process and you must differentiate yourself from everyone else out there shouting about their deals. So LISTEN.

You are a Leader, someone your prospect can plug into. Don’t be focused on jerking them into your deal. Tell them stuff they didn’t know but show them you have the answers, or at the very least, can get the answers for them.

But you’ll NEVER be able to find those answers if you don’t know the questions and there’s only one way to get those. By LISTENING.

How do you feel about that?
