Why Network Marketing?

Some have skepticism about Network Marketing. Others see it as the last bastion left in the free enterprise system an average person can create wealth. Just how real is the promise, and why does it work?
True economic freedom requires that you employ two basic prosperity principles:
1) You must employ the concept of leverage, to escape the trading-time-for-money dilemma; and
2) You must be able to look in the mirror every morning and know you’re talking to the boss.
When you put these two factors in play, manifesting prosperity is no longer a wild pipe dream, but something you can really accomplish.
When you take the entrepreneurial excitement of working for yourself and combine that with leveraging yourself through a network of other excited entrepreneurs—the results are exponentially spectacular. The synergistic process creates a whole that is much more powerful than its individual parts. Done properly, the end result of building your network is a self-perpetuating, residual income machine.
There are probably as many reasons to work the biz as there are distributors. Usually, though, it comes down to the kind of lifestyle networking can give you. Some of the unique benefits of this business include:

- Going into business with a small investment;
- Starting part-time;
- Working from home;
- Low Risk;
- Picking the hours you work;
- Discovering unique products not available elsewhere;

MLM Success: Your 1st Step – DO NOT ISOLATE YOURSELF
A successful Network Marketing business cannot be done alone: The very first step you must take toward MLM success is to get connected – DO NOT ISOLATE YOURSELF.
This may seem apparent, after all it IS Network Marketing. However, you might be surprised at how enticing it is to so many to work alone and think “I can figure this out for and by myself” – provided there is enough information available.
Sorry but this a very wrong assumption for a Network Marketer, an ssumption that leads to the careless spending of great amounts of time and finally, in the worst case, to the death of dreams.
This is also one of the greatest differences between INTERNET marketing and NETWORK marketing.
When NETWORK marketers behave like INTERNET marketers they have greatly misinformed themselves. This behavior of working alone is in direct contradiction to what NETWORKING is.
Call me guilty of “profiling” if you must but Internet marketers are in love with their computers and all the software that they have installed. They believe that all that information is going to deliver them to the Promised Land, turning their PCs into ATMs.
THEN, and only then, will they emerge from their solitary cocoons and spread their wings!
Maybe. But this model does not and cannot work for NETWORK marketers.
NETWORK MARKETERS HAVE TO NETWORK!
By definition Networkers have to meet, talk to, mingle with, and share ideas with other people. At the initial stages of a Network Marketer’s life this ideally should be done with a team and a mentor. The best setting for accomplishing this is with a Mastermind group.
If you find yourself in an MLM company without such a Mastermind group, you are at a grave disadvantage. It is something you must correct if you do not want to see your dream shrivel up and blow away in the wind.

Playing The Time Leverage Game
Funny how each of us really has the same dream: time, money, great relationships, and a meaningful, fulfilling life. But none of us will ever achieve our dream by trading time for money in a job.
There is only one way and that is to learn to Leverage Our Time; make Time and Others work for us.
Here are the Rules as outlined in a great, short, impactful book by Bill Quain Overcoming Time Poverty: How To Achieve more By Working Less.
1. Learn To Multiply. Time for Money is linear and to increase the money you have to increase the Time. It is simple addition. Instead learn to Multiply, using the Time of Others whom you have taught and mentored and the Time of the Others whom they have found in turn. And so on and so on.
2. Increase the value of your time, don’t increase your time. When you create more without working more, you have automatically made your time more valuable.
3. Use your time to Build not Buy. Build equity that will work for you forever. Don’t spend money on things but on more income-producing assets.
4. Build a Toll Booth, not a Toil Booth. Be more interested in collecting than working. Find a massive and dynamic trend and take part in it. Even just a small part of each transaction will accumulate quickly.
5. Get a Mentor, be a Mentor. In this Time Leverage Game, build a network of winners. We all need help and it is our responsibility to pass on that help to those who earnestly seek it.

But Marketing IS About Human Behavior – Isn’t It?
I unabashedly will tell you that I love my business mentors Bob and Anna. They are a fun-loving, talented, tough yet loving, experienced couple living way up there in Ontario. They’re so nice they even put me up (and put up with me) over the previous holidays for 8 snowed-in days. Yikes!
Why just today I got some great advice from Anna about how to deal with a prospect’s predicament. It was terrific advice and it worked. But I’m not surprised.
However, there is one thing I don’t quite see eye-to-eye with Bob. Maybe it’s my own curiosity about human behavior but I do like to delve into what makes a prospect tick once a business relationship has set sail.
I’m not talking about psychotherapy here, but we as network marketers do after all inquire as to WHY the prospect wants to get into this cockamamie business! And the answers are quite revealing and not only to us!
A recent post here http://liveyourdream-ownyourlife.com/your-world-is-your-word dealt with a young woman who was not doing right by herself and, as a mentor should, I called her on it.
I also wrote an Ezinearticle on the same subject which struck a chord with Bob, so much so that he was gracious enough to post it inon their blog http://togethertothetop.com/?p=5470 entitled MLM Success Tip – Keep your Promises!
What I don’t quite find myself in accord with Bob is his idea that the first rule of undertanding human behavior is don’t even try!
Now at first glance this may seem humorous, and it is, but I was under the impression that marketing is ABOUT human behavior, at least some aspects of it, isn’t it? I mean, aren’t we trying to make a connection and influence them in some way? Wouldn’t understanding how the human animal behaves go a long way in helping us toward that end?

Your World Is Your Word
Michelle (I have changed her name) first appeared to be a sincere and eager seeker of her own stable and secure future. She had downloaded the free eBook that I offer, had read it and had taken the initiative to email me her three deepest reasons for needing to succeed in her network marketing business. I take the sharing of such WHYs as a great honor. She impressed me very much and I was optimistic about our fledgling business relationship.
That’s why I was so taken back by her cancellation again and was moved to ask her a simple question: “Do you think with all that’s going on in the world right now there is one simple explanation for it?” She said she didn’t think there was.
I begged to differ and told her, “The reason there is so much turmoil in the world right now, so much contention right here in our country between political parties, so much anger from the populace is because people don’t keep their word anymore. It is that simple. If members of Congress and parliaments kept to their duties, if presidents and prime ministers kept to their promises, if business leaders and employees kept to their agreements, how different would the world be right now?”
I continued. “Michelle, no matter how hard you work, no matter what skills I am able to help you acquire, no matter how great your company is, if you don’t keep your word you won’t find the success you so deeply desire.”
It is THAT simple. And if you believe that she keeping her word, or you and I keeping our word, is inconsequential, well I’ll end with the words of the master, Mohandas Gandhi:
“As Human Beings, our greatness lies not so much in being able to remake the world – that is the myth of the Atomic Age – as in being able to remake ourselves.”

Intention and Attention IS the Secret
There is NO secret to The Secret. It is constantly working for you NOW and has been since you were born. There is NOTHING mysterious about it. The movie just served to bring it to a greater number of peoples’ Attention.
It works like this: First is your Intention. Whatever is in your Mind CONSTANTLY will be created or manifested. So if you hold in your Mind the debt on your credit card, you will have debt on your credit card just as you will have more health if that is what you hold in your Mind. It is incredibly simple!
Consequently the first step is coming to real-ize what it is You INTEND to create.
Second is your Attention. Whatever is being held in your Mind is what you are Attending to. In essence you are welcoming it, making a place for it to ‘Enter and make Itself comfortable’. It is that simple.
So you have a choice: Let Others’ thoughts come and go at THEIR behest or You welcoming thoughts and their resulting manifestation by holding in your Mind Your thoughts at YOUR behest.
The Key to the Secrets is You entertaining the thoughts that match your conscious Desire and then letting your Subconscious get to work.
Control your thoughts or someone else will.

“May You Live In Interesting Times”
Everyone is familiar with this Chinese “curse”. The implied meaning is that interesting times are turbulent and troubling times and that it is better for things to go along at a peaceful pace. Undisturbed and harmonious.
Well of course it is. But are you aware that the Chinese pictogram for “danger” is the exact same pictogram for “opportunity”?
What do you make of that?
I’ll tell you what my take on it is. The Chinese, being a 5,000 year-old civilization, should know a thing or two about wisdom and double-meanings and metaphors.
And when you think about it, danger to one is another one’s opportunity. Just as one man’s ceiling is another man’s floor. And a half-empty glass is also a half-full glass too.
And, uh . . . ahem . . . interesting times are accursed times.
Have you noticed that the Mayan calendar is running out in, oh . . . only 22 months?
And that Earth’s magnetic north pole is moving towards Russia at the rate of 40 miles each year?
And that birds are dropping from the sky in huge numbers? And that the frequency of earthquakes as well as UFO sightings are on the uptick?
And today it was reported that baby porpoises were washing up on the coasts of Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama, cause unknown but suspicions lean towards the BP oil spill.
I am not making light of these occurrences, only meaning to point out this profound truth: Earth, WHICH ESSENTIALLY MEANS WE HUMAN BEINGS, is at a crossroads. And a crossroads means a CHOICE.
Now I don’t know about you but having a choice excites the heck out of me.
Why?
BECAUSE CHOICES ONLY CONFIRM THAT OUR LIVES AND DESTINIES ARE IN OUR HANDS.
Don’t you feel empowered now, instead of threatened? I do.
